Music and Art Lessons

History

Our music institute began as the Bellflower Conservatory in 1990 with a single violin lesson, and has now grown to include lessons in oboe, piano, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet, guitar, saxophone, and voice, as well as in art, math, and English. In 2000, the music conservatory became a non-profit organization and gained the new name: the Institute of Art, Music, and Science (IAMS). This change was made to maintain high quality education while increasing program diversity, and providing these services at affordable costs to children and families of Bellflower and the surrounding communities.

The facility offers seven music studios staffed by highly qualified music instructors. The IAMS is governed by a seven- member Board of Directors of composing leaders in musical education and performance, business and community-based non-profits. Organization activity is directed and supervised by Eunji Lee, the director of the IAMS, and carried out by the instructors.

IAMS is a member of the Music Teacher's Association of California, and through the association, provides performance opportunities and skills reviews for students. IAMS has also established a name for itself in competitions. Many of the IAMS students receive awards and honors in the Southwestern Youth Music Festival, the Walker Competition, and the Cello Society Competition.
